Lone Star Sixteen Bean Soup
- red kidney beans
- black-eyed peas
- garbanzo beans
- green split peas
- yellow split peas
- baby limas
- large and small navy beans
- large white butter beans
- field peas
- speckled limas
- pinto beans
- lentils
- black beans
- pink beans
- red beans
- juice from 2 lemons
- 1 to 2 cloves garlic
- 2 cans tomatoes
- 2 large onions, quartered
- 4 qt. water
- 2 jalapeno peppers, deseeded and finely chopped (optional)
- 2 lb. meat*
- 2 green bell peppers
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- salt and pepper
- 2 c. brown rice
- Cook all day (6 to 8 hours).
- Add water if needed. Serve with cornbread and big spoons!
