Turtles on the Run
- 20 each caramels (candy squares)
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 cup butter ,
- 1/2 cup flour, all-purpose
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed, light
- 1 1/2 cups oats, quick cooking
- 1/2 cup chocolate (semi-sweet) semi-sweet chips
- 1/2 cup pecans broken
- Preheat oven to 400F (200C).
- In a double boiler, cook caramels and milk, stirring occasionally until smooth.
- Pour chocolate chips into a plastic bag and set in a pan of hot water to melt.
- In a bowl, for the crust, mix together butter, flour, brown sugar and oats.
- Stir and press into buttered 8 inch square glass dish.
- Bake crust in the oven for about 5 minutes and then set aside.
- When caramel is smooth, pour over crust and pour melting chocolate chips over caramel.
- Sprinkle pecans on top.
- Refrigerate until ready to eat, and cut into bars when ready to serve, about 15 minutes.
