Perfect Popcorn
- 3 tablespoons oil
- salt, to taste
- 13 cup popcorn
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Heat oil and salt in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels in the oil and put on the lid.
- When the kernels pop, dump the rest of the popcorn in the pan, remove from heat and count to 30.
- Put back on the burner.
- The popcorn should start popping fairly quickly.
- Keep the lid slightly ajar and jiggle the pan so the kernels do not burn.
- Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove from heat and dump into a bowl.
- Place the butter in the hot pan until melted.
- Pour over the popcorn and mix well.
