Faccia Di Vecchia
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1/3 c. lukewarm milk
- 1/2 c. warm milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
- 1 can sardines, drained, deboned and cut into small pieces
- 1 can anchovies (do not drain), cut up and mix with sardines
- 1 large bunch green onions, chopped
- olive oil (approximately 4 oz. or more)
- 4 oz. grated Romano cheese, combined with 4 oz. grated Parmesan cheese
- dried basil leaves (optional)
- black pepper (optional)
- garlic powder (optional)
- Poke small pieces of sardines and anchovies into dough, covering it completely.
- Spread
- and
- press
- onions
- down over fish.
- Sprinkle cheese on top and
- pour olive oil to cover all mixture.
- Sprinkle seasonings over
- top.
- Allow
- dough to rise again (about halfway up side
- of
- pan)
- before
- baking in 375u0b0 oven until brown.
- Cut
- into
- desired portions and serve while warm.
