Hale And Hearty Triticale
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1/2 c. very warm water
- 2 pkg. instant dry yeast
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 3 Tbsp. flax seeds, toasted (optional), heat on medium in dry skillet 3 to 5 minutes, shaking frequently
- 2 tsp. caraway seed
- 2 c. triticale flour (rye may be substituted)
- 4 1/2 to 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. cubed sharp Cheddar
- oil (for oiling bowl)
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 slightly beaten eggs
- 1 c. (or 3) mashed bananas
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cooking oil
- nonstick spray coating
- You will need 8 x 4 x 2-inch loaf pan.
