White And Yellow Turnips

  1. In large saucepan, heat about 4 cups water to a boil; add turnips and boil 1 minute.
  2. Drain and set aside.
  3. In large skillet, melt butter.
  4. Add bacon and cook until bacon is almost crisp.
  5. Add onion and continue cooking until onion is tender, but not browned.
  6. Add the blanched, drained turnip; salt and pepper. Pour in 1 cup water.
  7. Cover and simmer over medium high heat until most of the liquid is absorbed and turnips are tender, stirring occasionally.
