Apple Oat Bran Scones Country Cooking Recipe
- 3 c. Unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1 c. Oat or possibly wheat-bran flaked cereal
- 4 tsp Baking pwdr
- 1 tsp Grnd cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 c. Lowfat milk
- 1/4 c. Vegetable oil
- 1/4 c. Firmly packed light-brown sugar
- 1 lrg Egg
- 1 lrg Red baking apple, cored and coarsely minced with skin on
- 1 Tbsp. Butter, melted Additional grnd cinnamon for topping (opt.)

- Heat oven to 425'F.
- Grease large baking sheet.
- In large bowl, combine flour, cereal, baking pwdr, cinnamon, and salt.

- In medium-size bowl, beat together lowfat milk, oil, sugar, and egg.
- Add in to dry ingredients along with minced apple; mix lightly with fork till mix clings together and forms a soft dough.

- Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead gently 5 or possibly 6 times.
- Divide dough in half.
- With lightly floured rolling pin, roll one half of dough into a 7-inch round.
- Cut into 4 wedges.
- Repeat with remaining half of dough.
- 4.
- Place scones, 1 inch apart, on greased baking sheet.
- Pierce tops with tines of fork.
- Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with additional cinnamon, if you like.

- Bake scones 15 to 18 min or possibly till golden.
- Serve hot.
