Apple Brown Betty Bread Recipe
- (1 1/2 lb loaf)
- 1 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp. unsweetened applesauce
- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 c. flour">bread flour or possibly unbleached white flour
- 1/3 c. old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 Tbsp. oat bran
- 1 Tbsp. crushed wheat cereal or possibly bulgur
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 pch freshly grnd nutmeg
- 4 tsp butter
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/3 c. lightly floured raisins
- Pour buttermilk and applesauce into bread machine.
- In a mixing bowl or possibly large 4-c. measure, combine and stir together flours, oats, bran, wheat cereal, salt, soda, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Pour mix into bread machine.
- Place 1 tsp butter into each corner of bread machine container.
- Make a well in the center of dry ingredients and add in yeast into it.
- Set machine for 1 1/2 lb loaf.
- At signal, add in raisins.

- She combined her Grandma's recipe and a favorite buttermilk soda bread to come up with this tasty bread machine loaf.
