Sue'S Vegetable Beef Soup

  1. Place raw vegetables in large micro-proof bowl.
  2. Season with dash of onion salt, garlic powder and plenty of good fresh ground pepper.
  3. Add 1/3 cup water.
  4. Cover and microwave on High until just tender.
  5. Crumble beef in a large pot over Medium-high heat. Sprinkle with chili powder until surface is well dusted.
  6. Add onion and saute until meat is browned.
  7. Add canned and fresh vegetables, including water and other vegetable broths.
  8. Soup should appear thinner than you like to eat it.
  9. Add seasonings to taste.
  10. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat and simmer until either:
  11. (a) the ball game is over, (b) the house is clean, (c) the Sunday crossword puzzle is complete (2 to 3 hours), stirring occasionally.
