Artie'S Fruit Cake

• 4 c. applesauce
• 3 c. sugar
• 1 c. nuts, chopped
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
• 1 1/2 tsp. allspice
• 1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
• 4 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 box raisins
• 1/2 pkg. chopped dates
• 5 c. flour
• 2 c. shortening
• 32 oz. candied cherries
• 16 oz. candied mixed fruits

1. Preheat oven
2. to
3. 375u0b0.
4. Creamtugar and shortening in large mixing bowl;
5. add
6. flour,
7. baking soda, salt, nuts, raisins, dates,
8. candied
9. fruits and spices.
10. Heat applesauce and add to mixture.
11. Fold
12. together
13. until
14. mixture is completely consistent. Grease sides,
15. bottom
16. and
17. stem of an angel food cake tin.
18. Line with waxed paper.
19. Place fruit cake mixture in cake tin.
20. Bake 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 hours.
