Chocolate Crinkles
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 4 (4 oz.) unsweetened chocolate
- 1 tsp. instant coffee (optional)
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 c. confectioners sugar
- Melt butter and chocolate with the coffee.
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
- Beat chocolate mixture and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time.
- Add vanilla.
- On low speed beat in dry ingredients.
- Refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours. Grease cookie sheets.
- Roll teaspoonful of cookie dough into the confectioners sugar after forming ball with cookie dough.
- Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350u0b0 or until tops are just set.
- (Do not overbake.)
- Cool on sheets for 1 minute, then transfer to racks until completely cooled.
- Makes approximately 5 dozen.
