Shepherds Pie
- 5 pounds Potatoes
- 1/2 cups Yellow Onion
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 pound Lean Gound Beef
- 16 ounces, weight Frozen Vegetables
- 1 jar Heinz Home Style Savory Beef Gravy, 12 Ounce Jar
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter
- 1/2 cups Milk
- 1 cup Shredded Colby-jack Cheese
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- In a large pot, start boiling the water for the potatoes while you peel and clean them.
- Add all potatoes and boil until they are fork tender.
- Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Chop the onion and garlic.
- Start browning the ground beef, onion and garlic in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add a little bit of salt and pepper.
- Once meat is cooked through and well browned, add the jar of gravy and frozen veggies.
- Let this simmer while potatoes are cooking.
- Once potatoes are fork tender, drain and put into a large bowl, premash them a bit.
- Add salt, butter and milk.
- Then with a handheld mixer beat potatoes until smooth.
- Add cheese and mix.
- In a 9x13 glass pan, pour in meat mixture.
- Then take the potatoes and spread them over the top.
- Cover with foil and place in the middle of the rack in the oven.
- Bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
