Granny's Biscuits Recipe
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. pure lard, not melted
- 1/4 teaspoon soda
- 2 tbsp. baking pwdr
- 2 lbs. self rising flour (or possibly sufficient to fill a large pan or possibly bowl)
- Pour flour into large bowl.
- Make a well in middle of flour and add in lowfat milk, lard, soda, and baking pwdr.
- Using hands fold in all the above ingredients using sufficient of the flour to make a sticky dough.
- Then knead into a soft ball.
- Healthy pinch out biscuits and roll between palms keeping hands floured to make biscuits about the size of a soup can top.
- Makes about 12 medium size biscuits.
- Bake at 500 degrees for 5-8 min.
