Aunt Cordella'S Mince Pie
- 1 1/3 c. white sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- pastry for 2 (9-inch) crusts
- 1 1/2 c. finely chopped, pared apple
- 1 c. dark raisins
- 1/2 c. jellied cranberry sauce
- 1/3 c. walnuts, coarsely chopped
- 1 tsp. grated orange peel
- 1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel
- 1/4 c. lemon juice
- Combine sugar, salt and spices in a bowl.
- Add apple, raisins, cranberry sauce, nuts, orange and lemon peel and lemon juice; mix well.
- Pour into pastry-lined 9-inch pie plate.
- Dot with butter. Adjust top crust, tucking edges under rim of bottom crust; crimp edges.
- With knife, cut design in top crust.
- Bake in hot oven (400u0b0) for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Serve warm.
