Grandma'S Fruit Cake Recipe
- 1 lb. flour
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. mace
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 lb. currants
- 1/2 lb. citron (candied)
- 1 lb. cherries (candied)
- 1 lb. almonds, shelled and slivered
- 1 lb. pecans
- 1/2 lb. orange peel (candied)
- 1/2 lb. pineapple (candied)
- 1/2 lb. raisins
- 1 lb. butter
- 1 lb. brown sugar
- 9 eggs
- 4 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 2 Tbsp. vanilla
- Combine butter and sugar.
- Add eggs to this mixture, then other wet ingredients (milk, lemon juice and vanilla).
- Sift flour, cinnamon, cloves, mace, baking powder and soda together and set aside. Cut up pecans, orange peel, pineapple, citron, cherries, almonds, raisins and currants in a large bowl.
- Cover pans with waxed paper (Bundt or angel food pans) and spray where you can't cover.
- Heat oven to 300u0b0.
- Combine the dry mixture with the wet mixture, then include it with the cut up fruits and nuts. Thoroughly mix together and pour into pans and bake for 4 hours, very slow.
