Cream Filling or Topping

  1. Place egg in a bowl; set aside.
  2. Combine milk and cornstarch in a saucepan.
  3. Gradually, stir with a whisk until blended.
  4. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Gradually stir one-fourth of hot milk mixture into egg; add to remaining milk mixture, stirring constantly.
  7. Add splenda.
  8. Cook over medium heat 1 minute or until thick, stirring constantly.
  9. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
  10. Pour mixture into a bowl; place plastic wrap on surface, and chill.
