Breakfast Sour Milk Waffles
- 113 cups flour, all-purpose
- 1 cup sour milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening melted
- Sift flour, measure, and sift with salt and baking soda.
- Beat egg yolks until light and foamy.
- Add sugar and shortening.
- Mix well.
- Add milk alternately with sifted dry ingredients to egg mixture.
- Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Bake in hot waffle iron.
- Serve with fresh berries, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and/or whipped cream if desired.
