Flank Steak With Grilled Mixed Onions

  1. Heat grill or grill pan to medium.
  2. Combine sugar and vinegar in a small bowl.
  3. Brush onions with vinegar mixture and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  4. Grill onions until soft and caramelized, turning occasionally, about 45 minutes.
  5. (Skewer onions or place them in a grill basket or on foil with slits to prevent them from falling through the grill rack.

  7. Sprinkle steak with remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper.
  8. Place on grill when onions have been cooking for 30 minutes.
