Baked Pork Chops And Stuffing
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 6 rib pork chops (1-inch thick)
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. chopped celery
- 3/4 c. chopped onion
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 7 1/2 c. soft bread cubes
- 1 1/2 tsp. sage
- 1 tsp. thyme
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 3/4 c. water
- Melt shortening in skillet. Add pork chops and brown on both sides.
- Remove from the skillet. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon salt and set aside. Saute celery and onion in butter until tender. Combine the bread cubes and remaining salt, sage, thyme, pepper, egg and water.
- Stir in vegetable mixture.
- Form stuffing into pyramid in center of 4-quart casserole. Stand pork chops on large end against stuffing.
- Bake, covered, in a 350u0b0 oven for 60 to 70 minutes. Makes 6 servings.
