Danish Apple Pastry
- 3 3/4 c. flour
- 1 1/2 c. Crisco
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 3 lb. apples
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. crushed cornflakes
- Blend flour, Crisco (cut as pie dough).
- Put 2 egg yolks into a measuring cup and add enough milk to make 1 cup.
- Pour milk and egg mixture over flour and Crisco to make dough.
- Divide dough in half. Roll between wax paper or Saran Wrap.
- Place 1/2 of dough in a jelly roll pan or a cookie sheet.
- Layer cornflakes on bottom. Peel apples and slice.
- Put apples on dough.
- Mix 1 cup of sugar and cinnamon on top of the apples.
- Place second half of dough on top.
- Beat 2 egg whites until frothy and spread on top of dough. Bake at 375u0b0 for 55 to 60 minutes.
- Make a glaze of powdered sugar and milk and drizzle on top of pastry.
