Elephant Tracks
- 1/2 c. scalded milk
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
- melted butter
- Combine scalded milk, 1/4 cup sugar, salt and shortening.
- Cool to lukewarm.
- Soften yeast in lukewarm water.
- Add to first mixture.
- Stir in egg.
- Add flour; work until smooth.
- Put dough on floured board; let rest 10 minutes.
- Mix together sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll dough out into rectangular shape; brush with butter.
- Sprinkle with some of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Roll and cut slices 1-inch thick.
- Put a generous amount of sugar on board.
- Roll each slice until flat, 5 to 6-inch circle.
- Put on greased baking sheet and let rise 30 minutes.
- Bake at 300u0b0 for 12 minutes.
