Cornbread
- 14 cup lard
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup sweet milk
- Grease an oven-proof skillet (frying pan) and get it hot on the top of the stove.
- Preheat oven to 425.
- Cream lard, sugar, egg, salt.
- Mix corn meal, flour, baking powder.
- Add dry mix and milk alternately to creamed mix.
- Pour batter in skillet.
- Bake in oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
