Potato-Sausage Casserole

  1. Boil potatoes.
  2. Pan-fry sausage.
  3. Chop potatoes and cut sausage into pieces, except 6 to 8 links, reserved as garnish.
  4. Put 3 tablespoons of sausage drippings into large frying pan.
  5. Add 3 tablespoons flour and brown lightly.
  6. Stir in 2 to 3 cups milk and bring to simmer.
  7. Mix 6 tablespoons flour with 1/2 cup water and shake well.
  8. Add this to the milk mixture and stir until desired thickness.
  9. Mix in seasonings.
  10. Place a layer of potatoes and sausage in a 3-quart casserole dish.
  11. Pour some of the gravy over this and continue layers until casserole is filled 1 1/2-inches from the top.
  12. Garnish with whole sausage.
  13. Bake at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes, covered or uncovered, as you prefer.
  14. Serves 4 to 6.
