Low Fat Sausage Chili

  1. Heat a large pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Remove casings from sausage.
  3. Add sausage, onion, and the next 4 ingredients (up to and including the optional jalapeno) to the pot.
  4. Cook 8 minutes or until sausage and beef are browned, stirring to crumble.
  5. Add chili powder and the next 7 ingredients, chili powder to bay leaves.
  6. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  7. Stir in wine, tomatoes, and beans.
  8. Bring to a boil.
  9. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  10. Uncover and cook for 30 minutes more, stirring occasionally.
  11. Toss bay leaves.
  12. Garnish as desired.
  13. Enjoy!
