Chili Sauce Swiss Steak Recipe
- 2 pound top round steak 1 inch thick
- 1 med. onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 c. water, and more as needed
- 1 bottle chili sauce (Del Monte tastes better)
- With meat mallet lb.
- meat to tenderize.
- Cook onion in warm skillet till tender.
- Remove from pan.
- Brown meat on both sides.
- Reduce heat to low.
- Add in onion, chili sauce, dry mustard, salt and pepper, and the 1/2 c. water.
- Cover and cook for about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs.
- Check periodically and add in more water as needed.
- This can be baked in a 350 degree oven for about the same length of time.
