Baseball Mitt Cake

  1. Grease and flour one 9-inch round baking pan; set aside.
  2. Prepare cake mix as directed on package.
  3. Pour half of the batter into prepared pan; spoon remaining batter into 12 paper-lined medium muffin cups.
  4. Bake as directed on package for 9-inch cake layer and cupcakes.
  5. Cool cake and cupcakes in pans 5 min.
  6. ; remove to wire racks.
  7. Cool completely.
  8. Pour milk into medium bowl.
  9. Add dry pudding mix.
  10. Beat with wire whisk 2 min.
  11. or until well blended.
  12. Gently stir in 1 cup of the whipped topping.
  13. Cut a small piece from side of round cake; discard.
  14. Frost top and side of cake with pudding mixture.
  15. Decorate with chocolate sprinkles and licorice to resemble baseball mitt.
  16. Frost cupcakes with remaining 2 cups whipped topping.
  17. Place 1 cupcake on mitt.
  18. Decorate cupcakes with decorating gel to resemble stitches on a baseball.
  19. Store cake and cupcakes in refrigerator.
