Black Walnut Cake

  1. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and spices together several times.
  2. Mix egg yolks, oil, water and caraway seed in large bowl. Add dry ingredients.
  3. Beat 30 seconds at low speed.
  4. Add cream of tartar to egg whites.
  5. Beat until stiff.
  6. Gradually pour egg mixture over beaten whites and gently fold in.
  7. Pour into ungreased 10-inch tube pan.
  8. Bake at 325u0b0 for 55 minutes. Increase heat to 350u0b0 for 15 minutes more.
  9. Invert pan on rack and cool cake.
