Easy Pizza Pockets (a.k.a. Calzones)

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (215 degrees C).
  2. Divide pizza dough into 4 pieces.
  3. Roll out each piece of the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Shape the pizza dough by rolling into a rectangle.
  5. Transfer the dough pieces to a parchment lined or lightly greased cookie sheet.
  6. Spoon about a tablespoon or so of pizza sauce in a stripe down the center of each piece of dough, running lengthwise.
  7. Add a dash of Italian seasoning and garlic salt on top of pizza sauce.
  8. Add to each piece of pizza dough 1-2 tablespoons of cooked meat (chopped pepperoni, cooked sausage), cooked vegetables, and/or shredded cheese (like mozzarella, Parmesan or other shredded cheese).
  9. Fold pizza dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal.
  10. Make 2-3 diagonal cuts 1 1/2 inches apart down the top of the dough, cutting within a 1/2 inch of the filling.
  11. Brush tops with melted butter.
  12. Bake at 425 degrees F (215 degrees C) for 25-35 minutes (depending on the size of your pizza pocket).
  13. Recipe made vegetarian with no meat added.
