Little Grandma's Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

  1. Combine all ingredient and mix and form into dough.
  2. Don't knead too much, very lightly.
  3. Can chill a couple of hours or so.
  4. Roll out on floured board to about 18 inch; to 1/4 inch and cut out and bake on ungreased sheets.
  5. Bake at 350F (180C) F until very light brown on bottom, 6 to 8 minutes.
  6. Can sugar the top of the dough and roll it in, or frost with cooked icing.
  7. ICING: Combine icing ingredients, just enough light cream to make it creamy, add desired food colouring if needed, and cook to a soft ball stage.
  8. Remove from heat and stir until it begins to thicken.
  9. Spread quickly on cookies.
