Watermelon Liqueur

  1. Make pureed watermelon by removing the seeds and rind from about 1/8 of a medium watermelon.
  2. Seedless watermelon is the easiest to use.
  3. Use a large fork or potato masher to mash the watermelon in a large bowl.
  4. You don't need to puree it in the bowl, just mash it up enough to create some liquid so the fruit will puree well in the blender.
  5. Pour the melon and sugar into the blender and blend for 15 seconds or so, or until the sugar has dissolved.
  6. Pour the watermelon puree into a container with a lid, add the vodka, and cover.
  7. Store at room temperature for a week.
  8. Strain the melon pulp from the liquid by pouring it through a paper towel lined strainer.
  9. Store in a sealed container.
  10. Makes 2 1/2 cups.
