Grandma Sheldon's Wassail
- 1 gallon cider or 1 gallon apple juice
- 6 whole cloves
- 6 whole allspice
- 2 teaspoons nutmeg
- 1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
- 1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- Place spices into cheese cloth and tie it at the top.
- Pour cider or juice, lemonade and orange juice concentrate and brown sugar into a large pot.
- Place cheese cloth with spices in the pot of juices.
- Bring the juices to a boil.
- Allow to boil for 5-10 minutes.
- Reduce heat, allow to simmer at very low heat all day.
- Serve hot.
- OPTIONAL: Put the spices into the coffee filter of your coffee maker, pour the juice and sugar mixture into the place where you'd normally pour water, and run a coffee cycle.
- The coffee maker will even keep it warm!
- OPTIONAL: Put all ingredients (with spices in a cheesecloth) into a crockpot on high for an hour, then lower to warm so that it stays warm all day for serving.
