Spiced Pickled Pears

  1. In a medium saucepan, add the vinegar, water, sugar, lemon zest, bay leaves, cloves and garlic over medium-low heat.
  2. Cook, stirring often, until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
  4. Lower the heat to medium, place the pears into the saucepan.
  5. Cover the pears with a piece of parchment paper and a smaller size lid.
  6. Cook for about 30 minutes, or until the pears are tender.
  7. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool.
  8. Serve or put in a glass jar, seal well, and put in the refrigerator for at least 2 weeks.
