Night Before French Toast

  1. Butter a 9 x 13-inch deep baking pan.
  2. Cut the bread into 1-inch thick slices and arrange in a single layer in the pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, salt, milk, sugar and vanilla, beating with an electric mixer.
  4. Pour the mixture over the bread. Sprinkle with the cinnamon and allspice.
  5. Cover with foil and refrigerate 6 to 24 hours.
  6. Dot with butter and bake, uncovered, in a 350u0b0 oven for 45 to 50 minutes, until the bread is lightly browned.
  7. Remove from the oven and let stand for 5 minutes.
  8. Serve with warm maple syrup or confectioners sugar, yogurt or fresh fruit.
  9. Serves 4.
