Salisbury Steak

  1. Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, salt, pepper and egg.
  2. Shape into 4 oval patties each about 3/4-inch thick.
  3. Cook patties in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally, until brown, about 10 minutes.
  4. Drain.
  5. Add onion, broth and mushrooms. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  6. Cover and simmer until beef is done, about 10 minutes.
  7. Remove patties.
  8. Keep warm.
  9. Heat onion mixture to boiling.
  10. Mix water and cornstarch; stir into onion mixture.
  11. Boil and stir 1 minute.
  12. Serve over patties.
  13. Makes 4 servings.
