Pan Fried, Shiso Flavored Sandwiched Lotus Root
- 1 piece about 15 to 20 cm long Lotus root
- 150 grams~200 grams Ground pork
- 1 the white part Japanese leek
- 10 leaves Shiso leaves
- 1 tbsp Miso
- 1 tbsp Sake
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 2 tsp Katakuriko
- 1 Sesame oil
- 1 Ponzu etc.
- Peel the lotus root, cut into 7 mm slices, and soak in a bowl of water with vinegar.
- Finely chop the leek and shiso leaves.
- Combine with the ground pork and the ingredients and mix well.
- Dry the lotus root slices well, and sandwich the meat mixture between two slices.
- Put a generous amount of sesame oil in a pan, and pan fry the lotus root sandwiches over low heat for 5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- They burn easily, so watch carefully!

- I recommend using ponzu sauce as a dipping sauce.
- Or you can use ponzu sauce + ground sesame seeds, ponzu sauce + mayonnaise and Japanese style Worcestershire sauce.
