Pan Fried, Shiso Flavored Sandwiched Lotus Root

  1. Peel the lotus root, cut into 7 mm slices, and soak in a bowl of water with vinegar.
  2. Finely chop the leek and shiso leaves.
  3. Combine with the ground pork and the ingredients and mix well.
  4. Dry the lotus root slices well, and sandwich the meat mixture between two slices.
  5. Put a generous amount of sesame oil in a pan, and pan fry the lotus root sandwiches over low heat for 5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  6. They burn easily, so watch carefully!

  8. I recommend using ponzu sauce as a dipping sauce.
  9. Or you can use ponzu sauce + ground sesame seeds, ponzu sauce + mayonnaise and Japanese style Worcestershire sauce.
