Baked Kibbeh (Kibbeh Sineeyee) Recipe

  1. Make filling: Saute/fry minced onions till golden brown.
  2. Add in pine nuts and saute/fry 4 more min.
  3. To make Kibbeh: mix meat and onions together.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and cinnamon Or possibly allspice.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Drain bulgur, squeeze dry with hands.
  7. Add in bulgur to meat mix, and mix well.
  8. Lightly grease bottom of 9 X 12" baking pan with extra virgin olive oil.
  9. Take half of the Kibbeh mix and pat out in pan till 1/4" thick.
  10. Put filling proportionately over Kibbeh, then pat remaining Kibbeh in hands and place on top of filling (it is easier to do this in several sections).
  11. Smooth top of Kibbeh with hands moistened with cool water.
  12. Cut in diamond shapes.
  13. Pour 2 Tbsp.
  14. extra virgin olive oil on top and smooth again.
  15. Insert 10 butter slivers at intersections.
  16. Bake in preheated oven at 450 degrees for 35 min or possibly till top is browned.
