Oriental Pepper Steak
- 1 1/2 lb. (1 inch thick) sirloin steak (I use sirloin tip roast and have them slice it really thin)
- 1/4 c. vegetable oil
- 1 clove garlic, crushed or 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. grated fresh ginger root
- 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 2 1/2 c. chopped green peppers
- 2 c. chopped white sweet onions
- 1/2 c. soy sauce or more to taste
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 c. beef bouillon or broth (from meat when you stir-fry it)
- 1 (6 oz.) can water chestnuts
- 2 c. mushrooms, sliced
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch, dissolved in beef broth
- 6 green onions with tops, cut into 1-inch pieces
- Marinate the thin slices of sirloin in 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oil and pepper for 3 hours.
