Hot Tomatorie Chile
- 6 Tbsp. butter or salad oil
- 4 medium onions, sliced
- 2 medium green peppers, cut in strips
- 1 c. celery, coarsely cut
- 3 lb. ground beef
- 3 (20 oz.) cans tomatoes
- 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- 1 tsp. hot sauce
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 3 (20 oz.) cans kidney beans
- Melt the butter in a Dutch oven, then add the onions, green peppers and celery.
- Cook until onion is tender, but not brown. Add the ground beef and cook until beef loses red color, breaking up with a fork.
- Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, monosodium, hot sauce and chili powder.
- Cover and simmer for 20 minutes longer.
- Serve with crisp, salted crackers.
- Makes 12 servings.
