Rocks(Christmas Cookies)

• 1 c. butter
• 1 1/2 c. sugar
• 3 eggs, beaten smooth
• 3 c. flour
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1 tsp. ground cloves
• pinch of salt
• 1 scant tsp. soda
• 2 Tbsp. hot water
• 1 lb. coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts
• 1 lb. raisins
• 1 lb. coarsely chopped dates
• 1 c. candied cherries (use 1/2 green and 1/2 red)

1. Cream

5. sugar.
6. Add

8. eggs.
9. Sift together the flour,
10. cinnamon,
11. cloves and salt and add to the butter-sugar-egg mixture.
12. Dissolve the baking soda in the hot water and add

14. the mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients. Foil line and grease a cookie sheet.
15. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls. Bake at

18. 12 minutes or until nicely browned. Makes a gross (144 cookies).
