Rocks(Christmas Cookies)
- 1 c. butter
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten smooth
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- pinch of salt
- 1 scant tsp. soda
- 2 Tbsp. hot water
- 1 lb. coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 lb. raisins
- 1 lb. coarsely chopped dates
- 1 c. candied cherries (use 1/2 green and 1/2 red)
- Cream
- the
- butter
- and
- sugar.
- Add
- the
- eggs.
- Sift together the flour,
- cinnamon,
- cloves and salt and add to the butter-sugar-egg mixture.
- Dissolve the baking soda in the hot water and add
- to
- the mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients. Foil line and grease a cookie sheet.
- Drop batter by teaspoonfuls. Bake at
- 375u0b0
- for
- 12 minutes or until nicely browned. Makes a gross (144 cookies).
