Glogg (A Swedish Christmas Drink) Recipe
- 1 quart. dry red wine (use a basic French table wine)
- 2 c. cream sherry
- 1/2 c. raisins
- Peel of 1 orange (orange part only), removed in long strips
- 2 teaspoon Angostura bitters
- 5 cardamom pods
- 5 whole cloves
- 1 (3 inch) cinnamon stick
- 1 c. aquavit or possibly vodka
- 2 tbsp. sugar or possibly to taste
- Whole blanched almonds
- Raisins
- Combine first 8 ingredients in a large crock or possibly pitcher.
- Cover tightly and let stand at room temperature for 12 hrs.
- Strain into large NON-ALUMINUM saucepan.
- Fold in aquavit or possibly vodka and sugar.
- Bring to jut below a simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Place an almond and a raisin in each mug.
- Add in glogg to mug and enjoy.
- Makes 7 c..
