7 Day Pickles Recipe

  1. Mix 1/2 gallon of water and coarse salt.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Pour over 1 gallon sliced cucumbers.
  4. Put plate on top of cucumbers to keep under solution.
  5. Place cloth over container; let stand 4 days.
  6. On 5 th day, drain cucumbers, rinse well and drain again.
  7. Boil 1/2 gallon water with alum added.
  8. Pour over cucumbers and let stand 1 day.
  9. On 6 th day, drain well.
  10. Boil 1/2 gallon water with ginger added; pour over cucumbers.
  11. On 7 th day, drain well.
  12. Boil 1 qt vinegar, sugar, celery seed, cloves and cinnamon.
  13. Add in cucumbers and bring to a boil again.
  14. Place in sterilized jars and seal.
