Curried-Beef Skewers

  1. Place the curry powder in a small heavy skillet over very low heat.
  2. Stir constantly until toasted and fragrant, being careful not to burn it, about 10 minutes.
  3. Place in a large bowl and let cool.
  4. Stir in the oil.
  5. Add the beef and toss to coat well.
  6. Refrigerate overnight.
  7. Bring the beef to room temperature.
  8. Preheat a grill or broiler.
  9. Thread the beef onto 6-inch skewers, using 3 cubes for each.
  10. Grill or broil until medium rare, about 1 minute per side.
  11. Sprinkle with salt, place on a platter and serve.
