Almond Gateau

  1. Topping: Spread a 9-inch tube pan with soft butter in an even thick layer on bottom and 23 way up the sides.
  2. Pat almonds evenly over butter.
  3. Sprinkle brown sugar on bottom.
  4. Cake: Combine brown sugar with cake mix and prepare according to package directions.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  6. Bake in 325F (160C) oven 1 hour or until golden brown.
  7. To remove cake, invert on serving plate.
  8. Serve cold.
  9. If using a loose bottom tube pan place foil under pan to protect oven.
