Chochoyones
- 1 cup masa
- 1/4 cup lard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 to 5 tablespoons cold water
- Bring a pot of salted water to a gentle boil.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the masa, lard and salt.
- Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumb-like mixture.
- Stir in enough water to form a soft dough.
- Form the dough into small balls, about 1 tablespoon each.
- Lightly press your thumb in the center of each ball.
- Add the dumplings to the water and cook until the dumplings float to the surface, about 4 minutes.
- Continue to cook for 2 minutes.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Season with salt.
