Chochoyones

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a gentle boil.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the masa, lard and salt.
  3. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumb-like mixture.
  4. Stir in enough water to form a soft dough.
  5. Form the dough into small balls, about 1 tablespoon each.
  6. Lightly press your thumb in the center of each ball.
  7. Add the dumplings to the water and cook until the dumplings float to the surface, about 4 minutes.
  8. Continue to cook for 2 minutes.
  9. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  10. Season with salt.
