Mary'S Yeast Rolls

  1. Scald milk.
  2. Soften yeast in warm water and let stand 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Pour scalded milk over sugar, shortening and salt in a large bowl.
  4. When lukewarm, stir mixture.
  5. Add 1 cup flour and softened yeast mixture; mix well.
  6. Add 3 cups flour, beat until smooth.
  7. Beat in eggs.
  8. Then add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  9. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface.
  10. Let rest for 5 to 10 minutes, before starting to knead.
  11. Knead dough for about 5 to 8 minutes.
  12. Form into a large ball.
  13. Place in large greased bowl.
  14. Cover and let stand in a warm place until dough is doubled (about 1 hour).
