Baked Chicken That Makes Its Own Gravy
- 3 lb. chicken pieces
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. melted butter
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 c. American cheese
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 lb. sliced mushrooms
- dash of paprika
- Coat chicken with flour.
- Arrange chicken in single layer with skin side down in melted butter in 13 x 9-inch pan.
- Bake, uncovered, at 425u0b0 for 30 minutes.
- Turn chicken and bake until brown, 15 minutes longer.
- Remove from oven and reduce temperature to 325u0b0.
- Pour off excess fat.
- Combine evaporated milk, soup, cheese, salt and pepper.
- Add mushrooms to chicken and pour soup mixture over chicken and mushrooms.
- Sprinkle with paprika.
- Cover pan with foil and bake 20 minutes longer.
- Serve with rice or noodles.
- Serves 6.
