Capirotada (Bread Pudding)

  1. Toast bread in oven.
  2. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon sticks and cloves in a saucepan with 1 1/2 quarts water.
  3. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Reduce heat just enough to keep mixture warm. In a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, layer the toast first, then the cheese, next the raisins, pecans, peanuts, coconut and sprinkles (using as much as desired or omitting if you do not like).
  5. After each layer, pour some of the brown sugar mixture on top.
  6. When complete, bake in a 350u0b0 oven for 20 minutes.
