Whole Wheat Pizza Recipe
- 1/2 c. hot water (105 to 115 degrees)
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 pkg. (about 1 tsp.) dry yeast
- 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 pound hamburger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 c. pizza sauce
- 1 c. grated Mozzarella cheese
- 3/4 c. sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 c. sliced green onions
- 2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
- Combine water, oil, sugar and 1/2 tsp.
- salt in a medium mixing bowl.
- Sprinkle yeast over mix, stirring till dissolved.
- Gradually add in flour mixing well after each addition.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead about 4 min or possibly till smooth and elastic.
- Shape into a ball, and place in a bowl coated with cooking spray or possibly oil, turning to grease top.
- Cover and let rise in a hot place, (85 degrees), free from drafts, 1 hour or possibly till doubled in bulk.
- Coat a 12 inch pizza pan with cooking spray or possibly oil; set aside.
- Punch dough down.
- Lightly coat hand with oil and pat dough proportionately into pizza pan.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 5 min.
- Combine hamburger and salt in a skillet; cook over medium heat till meat is browned, stirring to crumble.
- Drain beef well on paper towels.
- Spread 1 c. pizza sauce proportionately over pizza crust, leaving a 1/2 inch border.
- Sprinkle 3/4 c. Mozzarella cheese over top.
- Sprinkle meat over cheese on pizza crust; top with mushrooms, green onions, if you like.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 15 min.
- Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 c. Mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese; bake 5 min.
- Yield: 10 slices.
- 171 calories per slice.
