Apple Torte
- 12 cup butter
- 13 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 12 cup strawberry jam or 12 cup raspberry jam
- 250 g cream cheese, softened
- 12 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 12 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 cups apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 13 cup sugar
- 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 12 cup slivered almonds
- BASE:.
- Cream together butter and sugar; add flour and stir until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press into bottom of and one-inch up sides of the 9-inch square springform pan.
- Spread jam on the bottom crust.
- FILLING:.
- Mix the filling ingredients until smooth and spread evenly over base.
- TOPPING:.
- Top apple slices with sugar and cinnamon and arrange gently over filling.
- Sprinkle slivered almonds over the top.
- Place.
- Place springform pan on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 400F oven for 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 350F and continue baking for 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
- Cool, serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
