Holiday Sugar Cookies
- 2 cups flour
- 1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar, divided
- 2 tsp. grated orange zest
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup cholesterol-free egg product
- colored sugars, sprinkles and decorator icing, optional
- Mix flour and baking soda in small bowl; set aside.
- Beat margarine or butter, 3/4 cup sugar, orange peel and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until creamy.
- Add egg substitute; beat for 1 minute.
- Gradually stir in flour mixture until blended.
- Refrigerate dough for 1 hour.
- Shape dough into 42 (3/4-inch) balls; roll in remaining sugar.
- Place 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheets.
- Flatten with bottom of glass.
- Sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles if desired.
- Bake at 375F for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightl y browned.
- Cool on wire rack.
- Decorate as desired.
